About the studio

Practical systems for real work.

Expired Soda Studios is a Louisville operations-led systems studio working across websites, workflows, automation, reporting, documentation, and focused software.

Why a studio

Different materials. One connected system.

A public website, an intake form, a spreadsheet, a report, an approval, and an internal handoff are often treated as separate projects. In practice, they are parts of the same service experience.

“Studio” reflects the way we work across those boundaries: learning the workflow, choosing the right medium, building carefully, and refining the result with the people who use it.

Operating principles

Useful, responsible, and ready to be owned.

  1. 01

    Start with the work

Understand the people, triggers, decisions, constraints, and handoffs before choosing technology.

  2. 02

    Use what already works

Strengthen approved tools and existing licenses before adding another platform.

  3. 03

    Build the smallest complete system

Solve the confirmed problem without creating avoidable complexity or dependency.

  4. 04

    Keep people in control

Use automation to support judgment and follow-through—not to hide consequential decisions.

  5. 05

    Design for adoption

Testing, training, documentation, ownership, and rollback are part of the deliverable.

  6. 06

    Leave a maintainable result

The organization should understand the system and be able to operate it after handoff.

Founder

Daniel Planos Mauriz

Operations systems leader and hands-on product builder

I founded Expired Soda Studios around a simple operating principle: understand the work before adding another tool.

I bring approximately 10 years of healthcare operations experience, including more than five years in operations support leadership. My work has included workflow support, quality audits, SOPs and work instructions, training, stakeholder communication, reporting, and process improvement for teams of roughly 5–60.

I pair that operating experience with hands-on delivery across Microsoft 365 and Power Platform, data and reporting tools, and C#/.NET, Python, and SQLite application development.
